Fujitsu Software Corporation Announces Partnership with Xitec Software

Xitec Software to resell Fujitsu COBOL as part of their product solutions.

San Jose, March 13, 2000 - Fujitsu Software Corporation today announced that it has signed a global partnership agreement covering the reselling of Fujitsu COBOL as a key component of UK-based Xitec Software plc's off-mainframe development and application migration solutions. This is one of a number of reseller agreements that are being established as more and more COBOL VARs are recognizing the value and benefits of the Fujitsu COBOL package.

Xitec Software provides innovative and technically advanced software products that allow companies to move their mainframe applications, intact, to the optimum computing environment.

"We are in the business of providing mainframe offload development and migration solutions for IDMS, 4GL, and related software," said Mike Vinten, Business Development Director for Xitec Software. "COBOL is central to this process so every time we sell a copy of our product, we sell a COBOL compiler along with it. We have been watching Fujitsu COBOL develop in function and market presence over the last few years and feel that the case for using Fujitsu COBOL is now very strong. It provides a high cost benefit for our clients and has established a reputation of proven reliability. Fujitsu COBOL not only widens the choices for our clients but also enables exciting new opportunities for us."

The reseller agreement covers territories throughout the world, except Japan, China and Korea. Xitec Software will provide most of the first and second line support to its customers for Fujitsu COBOL while Fujitsu Software Corporation will provide training, maintenance and support to Xitec.

"Xitec Software is a fast growing company with a reputation in the IDMS and 4GL market place for providing solutions with extremely fast return on investment," said Ron Langer, Director, COBOL Sales and Marketing for Fujitsu Software Corporation. "We respect what they have been able to do in providing offloading and migration solutions for products that have considerable complexity. They are extremely thorough and we know they would not have chosen our product if it did not come up to their high standards and requirements. We are proud to add them to our steadily growing list of resellers, reinforcing our message that Fujitsu COBOL is the COBOL for the 21st Century."
