New NeoData Releases from Alchemy Solutions Speed Mainframe Data Migration and Reduce Associated Risk
NeoData Utilities, NeoData for SQL Server, and NeoData zLink Provide Options and Flexibility in Maintaining and Transforming VSAM Data
WASHINGTON, DC, July 12, 2010 – Alchemy Solutions, provider of legacy modernization solutions, today announced three significant upgrades to its NeoData modernize-as-you-migrate family. Announced this week at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Washington, D.C., these new releases provide remarkable flexibility for organizations, greatly lowering the effort, time, and risk of migrating mainframe applications and data.
NeoData for SQL Server with SQLCLR Support
The NeoData solutions set enables companies to migrate VSAM or indexed file data to Microsoft SQL Server without rewriting legacy COBOL code. Using NeoData, organizations have the benefits of storing data in SQL Server without being required to go through difficult and risky code and data transformations.
The new release of NeoData for SQL Server adds support for SQLCLR. This added support delivers faster, more flexible, more reliable integration with SQL Server.
NeoData Utilities
The newest addition to the NeoData family are the NeoData Utilities – an integrated set of file transfer, conversion and editing capabilities that takes the guesswork out of dealing with complex COBOL data records. NeoData Utilities enable enterprises to migrate COBOL data quickly and with confidence, significantly reducing the time and effort involved. NeoData Utilities ensure that all data conversion challenges are identified and dealt with. They are an essential part in the professional developer’s toolkit, addressing one of the most cumbersome challenges in the migration process.
NeoData zLink with NeoBatch Support
Introduced in early 2010, NeoData zLink is a mainframe innovation that eliminates the requirement for migration to be an all-or-nothing proposition. Without code changes, NeoData zLink enables users to target specific applications, or subsets of applications, for re-hosting without having to move all their associated VSAM or DB2 data. This means that organizations can leave VSAM or DB2 data on the mainframe or continue their migration by moving the data to native SQL Server using NeoData for SQL Server.
In this newest release, Alchemy Solutions extends the ability of NeoData zLink by adding access to VSAM files from batch applications in addition to online (CICS) transactions from the original version.
“These new product upgrades for the NeoData family address the most common concerns when organizations are considering migration – time consumption and risk associated with migrating data,” said Ron Langer, general manager for Alchemy Solutions. “We’re pleased to introduce these enhancements to our proven solution set making mainframe migration and modernization faster, easier, and more accessible.”
Beta versions of the products will be available this month, with general availability anticipated later this year.
