BEND, Oregon, July 6, 2010 –Alchemy Solutions, Inc., provider of legacy modernization solutions and distributor of Fujitsu COBOL compilers with free run-times, today announced the general availability of the V10.1 releases of NetCOBOL for Windows, NetCOBOL for Windows x64 and NetCOBOL for Linux x64. The main features of these releases are the provision of native 64-bit code on Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems, along with support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
“As many of our customers are upgrading to run their applications on 64-bit servers they want to know that their COBOL applications are generating the best code for those platforms,” said Ron Langer, general manager for Alchemy Solutions. “I am therefore pleased to say that we now have versions of NetCOBOL that generate 64-bit code, still following our principle of not charging run-time license fees.”
Basim Kadhim, chief technology officer for Alchemy Solutions adds, “As all three products share a common interface for development and debugging users should find it easy to move from developing for one platform to another.”
The upgrades are available immediately with information and downloads accessible at the alchemysolutions.com website. Those wishing to purchase the 64-bit versions of the product should contact their sales representatives or send an email to cobol@netcobol.com.
