Featured Leading Analyst Dale Vecchio to Discuss Market Trends, Scenarios and Roadmaps to Cutting Mainframe Costs
ATLANTA – September 20, 2010 – The considerations surrounding migrating mainframe applications to more efficient platforms will be the subject of an executive IT summit on Tuesday, September 21st at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Hosted by Microsoft, Idea Integration and Alchemy Solutions, this half-day session will feature a presentation by Gartner Research Vice President Dale Vecchio, who will convey Gartner's latest observations on the state of the mainframe modernization market.
The theme of the IT Executive Summit is “Leverage Real Customer Experience to Plan Your Mainframe Future.” The summit objective is to help enterprises determine the best roadmap to cut mainframe costs, increase agility and maintain solid workforce talent by exposing attendees to current best practices and expert projections.
“Any IT executive with a mainframe is likely to have struggled with issues such as increased operational costs (MIPS), and dwindling mainframe talent due to an aging workforce,” said Gartner Research Vice President Dale Vecchio. “Our research shows that enterprises are increasingly taking matters into their own hands, exploring technology and organizational alternatives that have changed their IT infrastructure and improved their operations.”
Attendees will hear success stories about companies that have migrated their legacy applications to Microsoft .NET, thereby achieving substantial cost savings, increased performance and developer productivity.
“A decade ago, solving these infrastructure and platform problems might have been daunting, there were so few tried-and-true alternatives,” said Ron Langer, General Manager at Alchemy Solutions. “But with the rapid technology advancement of mainframe modernization solutions, companies are realizing vast cost savings and productivity gains leveraging innovative migration strategies. This is becoming a growing trend, and there is much to be learned from the experience of others.”
Idea Integration has collaborated with many of these enterprises in the Atlanta area, and will provide its first-hand insights on mitigating risk and ensuring successful delivery of migrated applications. “As a member of the Alchemy Solutions partner program, Idea Integration has assisted many enterprises in evaluating and modernizing their use of mainframe technology. So, it was logical that we team-up on this executive summit to share the insights gained from this experience,” said Steve Steuart, senior vice president of Idea Integration. “Through the tools and services available through the partnership program, Alchemy Solutions has been a major contributor to these successes, collaborating on bringing solutions to market more quickly than ever before possible.”
The summit begins at 8:30 am. Upon its conclusion at 12:30 pm, the Georgia Aquarium will be open for a breathtaking "behind the scenes" tour. Space is limited – reservations can be made online.
